Jacksonville- John Levy Gillette, 79, died Thursday April 29, 2021 while at home with his family.
John’s funeral will be Monday May 3 at 7:00 pm in the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville and will be officiated by Pastor Jan Fucilli and Reverend Mark Gillette. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. The committal service will be held the Tuesday 2:00 PM at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
John honorably served in the US Army National Guard for 38 years. He had a long and successful career working as a contractor specializing in mowing and shoulder maintenance for Onslow County DOT. He was a member in good standing for 55 years with Turner’s Chapel Church in Pink Hill, NC.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Thelma Gillette.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Turner Gillette; son, Mark Gillette (Mary Jo) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Lacey Cannon (Willy) of Kinston and Samuel Moore of Kinston; great-grandchildren, Austin moore, Kaitlyn Potter, Kacey Reed, Macey Reed, Stacey Reed, and Madison Cannon; sister, Mary Walters; brothers, George Gillette and Charles Gillette.
