John Bartholomew Marks, Sr, 91, passed away on November 18, 2022.

John served in the United States Marine Corps and completed two tours in Vietnam. He loved sports. He was elected into the NC Bowling Hall of Fame and loved the game of golf. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and was also the financial secretary. In addition, he belonged to the Fleet Reserve Association and was manager of the Marine Federal Credit Union in Jacksonville

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Stella Marks.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Monday November 21, 2022, at Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville.  Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Coastal Carolina State Veteran Cemetery in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his wife, Rusty Marks; his sons, John B. Marks Jr. and wife, Myra of Jacksonville, Gerald W. Marks Sr. and wife, Ann of Jacksonville; Christopher P. Marks and wife, Kathleen of Jacksonville; Michael J. Marks Sr. and wife, Anne Marie of Cumming, Georgia, Kevin A. Marks and wife, Judi of Leland, NC; his sisters, Jane Flynn and Marlene Bach, both of New York; grandchildren, Anthony, Stephen John, Stephen Michael, Jennifer, Carolyn, Gerald Jr, Heather, Hannah, Jordan, Michael Jr, Tyler, Keenan; and 8 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday November 20,2022 at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
