After his run overseas, he then worked as a civilian Marine and material coordinator for DS2 and following contracts on Camp Lejeune, NC. He worked several other jobs, but his most fulfilling was 26 years at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office. He served as a patrol deputy, Detective, Captain of Narcotics, and ABC deputy. John was able to celebrate 46 years of marriage with his loving wife Carol and they traveled most recently to Jamaica. He was at a point in life that he could enjoy every day with his grandchildren and meet his newest grandson Anthony Mitchell.
John was tragically taken too soon from this world, his family and friends. He was always known for doing anything for anyone. He will truly be missed by so many.
