Nickolas "Nick" Floyd Lauer

Hubert- Nickolas “Nick” Floyd Lauer, 78, passed away at his home after a short battle with cancer on Monday, January 23,2023, surrounded by his family.  He was born May 31,1944 in Mannheim, Ontario, Canada a son of the late John and Vera Rumig Lauer.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 26,2023 from 6-8pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro.  A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in St. Agatha, Ontario.

Nick graduated with a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada.  He began his career with Seagrams and Canadian Mist.  Nick emigrated to the United States with his wife, Celine, and sons, Aaron and Nathan, in 1979. A Master Distiller, Nick served as Vice President of Global Quality Assurance at Archer Daniels Midland.  Nick and Celine retired to Hubert, North Carolina, near his beloved Outer Banks.

A lifelong Catholic, Nick greatly enjoyed gardening and music.

He is survived by his wife, Celine Lauer; sons, Aaron Lauer (Martha) of Singapore and Nathan Lauer (Steve McCombs) of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Winslow Hobbs and Penelope Hobbs; siblings, Mitzie Eckert, Cathy Jackson (Paul), John Lauer (Carole), Bob Lauer (Myrna), Jim Lauer, Tom Lauer (Rose), all of Kitchner-Waterloo, Canada.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Tallman; brothers-in-law, Dave Eckert and Larry Tallman; and  niece Sherree Tallman.
