Obituary

Pamela Elizabeth Thomas passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020 after a long battle with Covid-19 at Onslow Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 23, 1948 in Rocky Mount, NC. Pam was preceded in death by her mother & stepfather Bessie & Bill Wallace . She is survived by her special friend, Polly Bridge, brothers, Johnny & Timmy Wallace & nephew Jason Wallace, nieces Courtney Cloninger (Josh) & Hilary Davis (Robert). Also her great nephew Griffin & great nieces Morgan and Makenzie.

The way Pam lived her life is a testament to her convictions and priorities. Her love for children and their well-being will be her legacy. They were always FIRST.  Community spirit resonated within her soul. Her focus on the impoverished was clear in her tireless efforts with the Onslow Community Outreach and her long-time membership in the Jacksonville Breakfast Rotary Club among numerous other community charities. She was a dedicated teacher, coach & IT Director during her 35 years in Education. She was also on the Board of Education for 16 years, 11 of those years as Chairwoman.

She was loyal to the Onslow County School System throughout her decades long career and while serving in countless leadership roles; the role of teacher was her passion!

Pam believed that setting high goals for her students encouraged them to achieve. Her students' love for her made them accept that challenge. She respected them and they respected her. She loved them, all of them, no matter their circumstances.  She believed in the good in all children.

Pam rarely focused on herself, but rather on those who needed assistance. There are countless stories of how she has helped so many in the community. The true nature of her soul shines through in so many posthumous stories of her positive impact on numerous people. She donated more ECU (her Alma mater) football tickets than she ever used herself. Her selfless nature was known by all who knew her.

While she was a pillar of the community, she was a pillar of her family as well. The best times were times spent with her and the lessons and laughs will be treasured forever. Her family will always remember her kind and compassionate spirit. We absolutely adored her and she will be sadly missed.

Pam, we will honor you the best we know how and we will always do our best to make you proud. We will think about things you have taught us before making important decisions. We will be reminded of all of the selfless acts you have done. We will do good things out of the goodness in our hearts as you would. We will also still tell funny jokes and be sarcastic as we know you were the best at jokes and wouldn't have it any other way!

There aren't enough words to truly relay what a remarkable woman Pam was but if we had to pick just one it would be love. Love for her family, community, faith, and all those who crossed her path.

No services have been scheduled at this time due to covid.
