Verla Mae Blackburn was born on May 19, 1938 in Pikeville, Kentucky and entered into death in Marshall, Texas on January 20, 2022 while resting at home, in her favorite chair.
Verla married right out of high school and started her life as a Marine's wife. Verla always dreamed of having 7 kids. She was preceded in death by son, James Albert, Jr. and daughter, Sandra "Sandy" Francis.
Verla is survived by TammyLynn (husband, Bob, South Carolina), William Gerald "Billy" (wife, Louise, Florida), Richard Martin (Texas), Garnet (husband, Troy, North Carolina), and Duane Eugene.
Verla was blessed with 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker, before starting a military Isignia company which served the military exchanges at Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point. She was a faithful member of White Oak Community Church.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00pm at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm at Jones Funeral Home.
She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
