Obituary

WILMINGTON  -  Vernon Leo Weedon, Jr., 61, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center of Wilmington.  Graveside funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Vernon was a kind man and was well known around the community for helping and assisting his local four-legged cat friends. Throughout his life he had many animals that he took care of. He was a fan of New Orleans music and visited there often.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Leo Weedon, Sr. and Betty Weedon.

Survivors include his brothers, Paul Weedon of Wrightsville Beach and David Weedon of Kannapolis; and aunt, Sue McGlothlin of Nashville, TN.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested by the family to be made to any of the following organizations, all4cats.org,friendsoffelines.org, wilmingtonanimalcentrix.org or Lower Cape Fear Life Hospice.
