Catherine Michele Brodniak, 45, of Jacksonville died on December 29, 2017, at her home comforted by her family. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Infant of Prague Catholic Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Father Tom Duggan.
Cathy was born on July 27, 1972. She was a graduate of White Oak High School. Cathy was a longtime employee of Convergys and excelled as a trainer, instructional designer and writer of corporate training. Cathy was at the forefront of the virtual team implementation.
Cathy held a special place in her heart for all of her nephews. She often referred to Jon Michael, Sean, Matt, Patrick and Andrew as "her boys." Cathy cultivated and maintained a special bond with each nephew whether through movies, musicals, books, sports or current events. Cathy made each moment a "teachable moment" that translated into lasting and precious memories. Cathy always challenged "her boys" to know more, be more and reach for the stars. Cathy was bright, witty and engaged with her family and friends no matter where they may be located. She had a thirst for knowledge and was eager to share her knowledge with everyone. Cathy touched many people on social media and had a vast circle of friends that she included as extended family. Always ready with a smile or encouraging words, you could always count on Cathy. She was known for her famous chocolate chip cookies and meatballs. Cathy was a loving daughter, wonderful sister and a devoted aunt.
Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved mother Patricia Brodniak and her father Robert Brodniak.
Survivors include her brother, Steven J. Brodniak of Maryland Heights, MO; and sisters, Christine and her husband Michael Graham of Winston Salem, NC, Andrea Brodniak of Jacksonville and Lisa and her husband Gary Collins of Sumter, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Cathy's name to Infant of Prague Catholic Church, Repairing God's House, 220 Marine Blvd., Jacksonville, NC 28540
