Jacksonville, NC - Colonel Alfred W. Ruete, Jr USMC (Ret) died on August 1, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Viola and one daughter, Donna of the home.
Col Ruete held the usual command and staff positions of a Marine Officer during his 31 year career. He served in Korea and Vietnam. His last assignment was at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, as assistant Chief of Staff for operations and training.
A memorial service will be held 12:00pm, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with Father Ernest Ruede officiating, with full military honors.
