Obituary

Emerald Isle- Emma Ruth Griffis Creech, 93, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born July 15, 1930 in Selma, NC a daughter of the late Malcom and Emma Elizabeth Hinnant Griffis.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro with Rev. John Allegri officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be buried with her husband at a later date in the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Creech was an active member of First Baptist Church Swansboro and loved to spend time worshiping her Lord and Savior with her church family. She was a medical administrator for the Veterans Administration. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Doug Creech of Emerald Isle, Greg Creech and his wife, Cheryl of Ashburn, Va., and Steven Creech and his wife, Karen of Charles Town, WV; grandchildren, Warren and Moriah Creech, Emmalie and Dylan McKenzie, Alex and Jim Braudaway, Lewis Creech, and Taylor Creech; and great grandchildren, Olivia, Cayden, Delylah, Howie, Baylen, and Eli.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Creech; sisters, Mildred Boyette, Mary Carter, Myrtle Moore, and Dorothy Womack; and a brother, Garland Griffis.
