Emma "Katie" Kay Hammond Sims, 76 of Hubert, passed away Saturday afternoon at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents Clovas Shelby (Buck) and Myrle Marie Hammond; grandson Nathan Polk; and 2 brothers Kenneth Ray Hammond and Shelby Lee Hammond. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Lee of Hubert; son Lee A. Polk, Jr. of Hubert; 2 step-children Tina Morris (Sonny) of Alabama and Amanda Lee (Blake) of Alabama; a sister Mavis Gay Sheffel of Mississippi; brothers Bradley Allen Hammond of Indiana and Daniel Hammond of Mississippi; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; half sister Mary Marlene Metz (Silas) of Indiana and half-brother Fred Hammond of Indiana.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local no kill pet shelter.
