JACKSONVILLE - MSgt Harvey W Hoopes Jr., USMC Ret., 76, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hoopes was born to Harvey Hoopes, Sr. and Freda Hoopes on July 6, 1947, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He met his wife Joyce Hoopes at Camp Lejeune and then joined the Marine Corps. He later came back to Jacksonville and retired. Where he then worked civil service at Marine Corps Air Station New River.
He was preceded in death by his father, GySgt Harvey W Hoopes Sr. retired and mother, Freda J Hoopes.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Hoopes. His children Harvey W. Hoopes III and his wife Mary Jane, Kevin Hoopes and his wife Melissa Hoopes. Is survived by his grandchildren Harvey W. Hoopes IV and Kayla W Hoopes and her fiancé Charlie Davis, Terry James Lyons.
He is also survived by his siblings John A. Hoopes his wife Vonnie, Charles E. Hoopes his wife Maureen, Carol Hoopes Carney, Sandy Hoopes Seybuck and her husband Tom, Michael R. Hoopes his wife Sherrie, James W. Hoopes his wife Maria, Sister-in-law Lissa Peterson and her husband Jon Dale.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews John A. Hoopes Jr. his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Hoopes Wiggs her husband Daniel, Kyle Hoopes his wife Lori, Scott Hoopes his wife Julia, Sara Ingram her husband Michael, Kelly Urbany her husband Edward, Christina Ryan, Michele Raynor, Matt Seybuck and his wife Brooke, Mallory Rummings and her husband Wade, Morgan Hoopes Jarman and her husband Elliot, Alexander Blanton, James Hoopes, and Riley Hoopes.
Great nieces and nephews, Madison Hoopes, Austin Hoopes, Ashleigh Hoopes, Christopher Wiggs, Abbigail Wiggs, Gwenyth Hoopes, Evangeline Hoopes, Benjamin Ingram, Jayden Ingram, Cody Ingram, Vincent Ingram, Samantha Ryan, Chandler Raynor, and Chase Raynor. Gavin Rummings, Eli Jarman, Gardner Seybuck.
His memory will live on in his loved ones' hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 12 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home
