Sidney Sanford Haskins, 89, of Swansboro, NC, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at Carolina East Medical Center, New Bern, NC. He was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Mayville, NY.
A Memorial service will be held in Ohio at a later date.
Sid served his country in the USMC for many years, including a tour in Vietnam, from which he achieved and retired with the rank of Lt. Col., in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary L. Mahon Haskins; two sons, Steven S. Haskins and Raymond E. Hughes.
He leaves behind and will be greatly missed by a stepson, Ronald W. Hughes, five grandchildren, Ronald, Jr., Dana, Eric, and Adam of NC and Aaron of SC; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Janice Doran of East Palestine, OH and many nieces and nephews in Ohio and New York.
