Mary Silva Cornwall, 92 of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday morning at Woodbury Wellness of Hampstead. She graduated Oswego State Teacher's College in the late 40's and went on to be an elementary school teacher. Mary was also very active at Infant of Prague Catholic Church of Jacksonville and with the Officer's Wives Club. She was also an avid equestrian, golfer and bowler; and she was a master at the craft of knitting.

A funeral service will be held at Jones Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Friday at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Cornwall, parents John and Mary Silva, and brother John Silva. She is survived by her son Gerald Cornwall, Jr. and wife Sharon of Hubert, NC; daughter Carol Turnbull and husband Doug of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Jerry Evans Cornwall, Matthew Turnbull, Joshua Turnbull, and Nicholas Turnbull; and great grandson Miles Turnbull.

The family will receive friends at 1 PM on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Infant of Prague in her honor.
