MIDWAY PARK - Mavis Cannon Jones, 77, of Midway Park, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at Davis Health Care Center in Porters Neck. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at Onslow Memorial Park with Rev. Mickey Cox officiating.
Mrs. Jones suffered a severe illness in 1991 and was saved by the heroic efforts of Dr. John McQuade of New Bern. The family would like to publicly thank him and also the staffs at Davis Home Care Center and Cape Fear Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Paul Jones, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, E.J. Jones of the home; one daughter, Louise Walters and her husband, Billy of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Dustin Walters, John Paul Jones and his wife, Terri and Anna Jones; four brothers, Roland Cannon and his wife, Judy of Tucker, GA, Curtis Cannon and his wife, June of Bodfish, CA, Billy Cannon of Gardena, CA and Craig Cannon and his wife, Carol of Beaufort, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
