Michael Thomas Lilly, 62, of Cape Carteret passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at his home.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Swansboro at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Lilly was born in Beckley, WVA and was the son of Doris M Lilly and the late Carlos Lilly. He also was predeceased by his son, Michael Thomas Lilly Jr. He was a Navy veteran and known as the "Muffler Man" in the local community.

He is survived by one son, Stephen Lilly and his wife, Mariangel of Cedar Point, NC; mother, Doris S. Lilly of Cape Carteret, NC; one sister, Sandra "Sandy" Ethier and her husband, Bill of Yulee, FL; two nieces, Victoria Merideth and her husband Bradley of Ardmore, TN and Katelyn McCarthy and her husband, Evan of Bremerton, WA; one uncle, Kenneth Smith of Ann Arbor, MI; two great nephews, Grady and Caleb, and one great niece, Ella, along with a host of friends.
