Swansboro- Penny McDaniel, 74, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Friday December 8, 2017. She was born March 24, 1943 in Westminster, CA daughter of the late, Leroy Vernon and Ruth Ann Ward Gabel.
"A death has occurred and everything is changed. We are painfully aware that life can never be the same again, that yesterday is over, that relationships once rich have ended, but there is another way to look upon this truth. If life now went on the same, without the presence of the one who has died, we could only conclude that the life we remember made no contribution, filled no space, meant nothing. The fact that this person left behind a place that cannot be filled is a high tribute to this individual. Life can be the same after a trinket has been lost, but never after the loss of a treasure."
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother who loved being with her family.
She is survived by husband of 55 ½ years, Frank McDaniel of the home; sons, Walter Howard McDaniel (Roxanne) of Winston-Salem, Robert Corey McDaniel (Pamela) of Swansboro, Gregory Aaron McDaniel (Michele) of Dallas, TX, and Joshua David McDaniel (Maria) of High Point; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers, Greg Gabel of Tyler, TX and Jerry Gabel of Livingston, LA.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Gabel.
