JACKSONVILLE - Robert Lewis Ross, 79, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel, with Rev. Freeman Edwards and Pastor Larry Haggard officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps, will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Robert is a United States Marine Corps veteran (Retired) and also worked with Onslow County Sheriff Department (Retired).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Ross and Mary Beech; a granddaughter, Sydney Alison Ellington; and one brother, Terrell Ross.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Jane Baldwin Ross of the home; two daughters, Roberta Ross Hickam of Scotland Neck, NC and Mary Jane Ross Thompson of Ft. Wayne, IN; a son, Robert Louis Ross of Burlington, KY; stepmother, Edith Ross of KY; two brothers, Tommy Ross and Bob Ross, both of KY; two sisters, Ann Ross Crisp and Brenda Ross Dillon, both of KY; and three grandchildren, Stephen Snead, Robert Ross and Conner Ross.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6pm till 8pm at the funeral home.
