Swansboro- Ronald Burtus Bryant, 82, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at ECU Health in Greenville with his family by his side. He was born June 9, 1940 in Chicago, IL a son of the late Lyle and Gladys Dunbar Bryant.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 2:00pm at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends Monday, April 10, 2023 from 6-8pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro.
Ronald attended Calumet High School in Chicago where he excelled in wrestling. He was proud to serve his country in the US Army. He was a truck driver and loved the time he spent with his family and friends. He was happy to retire to North Carolina to get away from the cold Chicago winters. He loved fishing, eating, travel and watching sports, especially his favorite Chicago Bears. He was known for his honesty, kindness and integrity. He was beloved by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren. His Christian faith guided him through many hardships in his life and he served the Lord with all his heart. He loved to preach the gospel on his many trips to China and Taiwan.
He is survived by wife, Chinmay Lin Bryant of the home; daughter, Connie Cerne (Roger) of Winterville; son, Daniel Bryant (Mandy) of Morehead City; and grandchildren, Nina Blinick, Shana Blinick, Jacob Levan, Sabina Cerne, Jonah Johnson, and Jesse Johnson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Levan; brother, Wayne Bryant; and sister, Sharon Sturgeon.
