SNEADS FERRY – Steven James Davis, 44, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina passed away on December 27, 2021.

Steven was born on March 5, 1977 in Pontiac, Michigan. Steven's family was three-fold: one that he was born into, a second that he was sworn into and the third that he married into. In addition to being a beloved husband to Christina, father to Riley and Christopher, son to Frank and Rhonda, and brother to Eric, Steven counted many others, especially his Marine brothers, as family and friends.

Steven joined the Marines in 1996 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2016. Steven was a Marines' Marine. Respected and trusted by those he served with, he was blunt and pulled no punches when sharing his viewpoint on something. Steven was awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry and received a Purple Heart Medal for combat action in Iraq in 2004. His 20 years of dedicated service culminated in being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (2d award) at his retirement in 2016. For Steven it was never about the awards rather it was about service to his country and dedication to the Marines he served with.

To just say Steven was a hunter and fisherman would be a disservice to him. Steven was an expert hunter with extraordinary tracking skills and a very successful charter boat captain of the fishing vessel "Reel Cranky". He shared his love of hunting and fishing with family and friends. Furthermore, Steven counted many new friends amongst those that he took charter boat fishing.

Words to describe Steven are many: generous, genuine, humble, serious, silly, adventurous, loyal. He had an amazing sense of humor. It has been said about Steven that he was "loved by many, disliked by some, couldn't have been loved by all cause it wouldn't have been as fun!". Truer words about Steven have never been spoken.

Steven is survived by his wife Christina Davis, his two sons, Riley Davis and Christopher Carter, his parents, Frank and Rhonda Davis, and his brother Eric Davis as well as several other family members and friends.

Steven, you are already missed. Rest in peace.

A viewing will be held at Jones Funeral Home on 9 January from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM . A military service with full military honors will be conducted on 10 January at 10:00 AM at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans' Cemetery in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
