In Loving Memory of

Terry D. Norton, 70, of Jacksonville, passed away on October 9, 2025, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Funeral services will follow on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Onslow Memorial Park @3:00 PM.
Following the burial, the family will gather at Lighthouse Baptist Church for fellowship and food.

Terry was born on February 18, 1955, in Onslow County, North Carolina, to the late William Norton and Rosa Lewis Norton.

A proud local businessman, Terry was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. He had a lifelong love for racing and enjoyed sharing that passion with friends and family. Terry was also a mentor to those around him—always offering guidance, encouragement, and wisdom to anyone who needed it.

Terry has never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel like family. Jean Norton was the love of his life, affectionately known to him as "String Bean." His friends and family will forever remember his laughter, his kindness, and the joy he brought into every room he entered.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jean Norton; his children, Thomas Pollard, Leslie Pollard, and Shelia Barber (Kenny); his sister, Dorothy Norton Pope; grandchildren, Savannah Barber Norris (Jordan), Madison Pollard, Kenneth Riley Barber (Riley), Jackson Ryan Barber (Kinsey), and Khloe Pollard; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Norris and Stevie Barber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Norton and Rosa Lewis Norton, and his sister, Sue Lynn Norton.

Terry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, mentorship, and friendship will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched. He has now paved his way into Heaven, where he will continue to watch over those he loved most.
