Veronica "Sue" Tardanico Molloy, 59 of Hubert died on 31 December 2015. Following a stoic battle with cancer, Sue passed away surrounded by her loving family, just one month before her 40th wedding anniversary. A visitation will be held to honor Sue at 2:00-3:00PM, 10 January 2016, at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro. Sue will be inurned at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC at 10: 00 AM, Monday 11 January 2016 with Father Ken Lewis officiating.
Sue was born 7 January 1956 at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point in North Carolina to Marine Corporal Francis Tardanico of Dorcester, Massachusetts and Bertha Ireland Tardanico of Hobucken, North Carolina.
Sue is survived by her husband and love of her life, MGySgt Philip F. Molloy III, USMC (Ret.) of the home, son, Philip F. Molloy IV of Hobe Sound, Florida, Angel Molloy Sanders of Hubert, and her absolute pride and joy, granddaughters Catie, Emily, and Valerie. She is also survived by her sisters Teresa Tardanico Hewson and husband Paul of Trent Woods, Debbie Tardanico Lewis and husband Lon of New Bern, Lisa Tardanico Needham and husband Roger of New Bern, and brother Frank Tardanico of New Bern; Sisters-in-law Brenda Molloy Gariepy of Massachusetts, Brenda Burley Molloy of Florida, Julie Molloy Letendre of Florida, Irene Molloy Pilling of New Hampshire, and her favorite brother-in-law Christopher "Kit" Molloy of Florida; Nieces Kimberly Needham Tallant of Maryland, and Hollister "Holly" Molloy of Florida; Nephews Brian Letendre of Florida, Daniel "Shane" Malone of North Carolina, Daniel Molloy of Florida, Luther "Luke" Lewis of North Carolina, Joseph Lewis of North Carolina, Josh Lewis of North Carolina, and Ethan Hewson of North Carolina.
Heartfelt thanks to those who have supported the family both physically and with prayer during this most trying of times. A very, very special "thankyou" to Dr. Bonnie Goodwin of ECIM Oncology and the most wonderful team of nurses…you are the BEST!
Sue was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and tough Marine Corps wife. She was a great baker and fantastic cook who could prepare a different meal every day of the year. She enjoyed her flowers and her gardens, and she loved the many dogs and cats she had over the years. Sue was an avid reader and also filled any in-between time with word puzzles or watching a good movie with her husband, Phil. She was also a brilliant researcher which she put to good use as a dedicated Genealogist, often finding documents others hadn't known existed. Her favorite seasons were evenly split between Fall and Spring yet she always longed for a good snow in the winter so she could snuggle up with a cup of cocoa and watch the birds scurrying around the feeders. Sue enjoyed most holidays like anyone else but, though she wasn't big on birthdays, she always managed to make Christmas a very magical time for everyone.
Sue was also "Mom" for over 35 years to a very special group of men who ever wore the title "Marine." They are a platoon of Marines of the 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment who were led by her husband. To her they were always "My Boys."
