Carlyle served his country in the US Navy during World War II, was a Mason and Shriner for the Sudan Shrine Temple, volunteer firefighter in Jacksonville, Jaycees and Rejays, American Legion, as well as many other civic groups over the years. Carlyle worked for the United States Post Office for many years, ending his long career as the Post Master here in Jacksonville. Many may remember him as an avid golfer, as well.
