William Jerry Carter, USMC Ret., 89 of Jacksonville died August 9, 2012 at Quinn Hospice Center, Kenansville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Infant of Prague Catholic Church, Jacksonville with Reverend Thomas Davis officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veteran Cemetery.

Mr. Carter retired as a SSgt. in the United States Marine Corps and also retired from the Camp Lejeune Fire Department. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Marine Corps League, and the American League.

Surviving; His wife, Mary Lalonde Carter of the home; Four daughters, Helen Coalter of Midlothian, VA; Ann Hamilton of Cary, Cathy Carter of Orlando, Fl and Julie Foley of Morehead City. Two sons, William P. Carter of Durham and Robert C. Carter of Jacksonville. Two sisters, Wanda Arrington of Myrtle Beach, SC and Doris Giezentanner of Woodfin. Twelve
Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home Jacksonville.
