About Us
Jones Funeral Home began in 1920, when G.W. Jones recognized the need for a compassionate and reliable funeral service in the area. Located across from the Onslow County Courthouse, the business quickly made a positive and lasting impact. Over time, G.W. Jones's sons—Timmons, Talbert, and Thompson—joined
the family enterprise. Under their leadership, the funeral home moved to its current location at the corner of Chaney Avenue and Bordeaux Street.
As the population in the region grew substantially over the following thirty years, so did the services Jones Funeral Home offered. To accommodate this growth, the facility underwent several additions and renovations. During this pivotal time, Timmons's son, Jerry, joined the family business, becoming a third-generation funeral director deeply committed to serving families in their time of need. Continuing this legacy, Jerry’s sons, Bert and Bart, have embraced the same dedication to providing compassionate care.
The family’s vision expanded in 1985 with the establishment of a funeral home in Swansboro, followed by additional facilities in Holly Ridge in 1991 and Richlands in 1994. In 1994, Jones Funeral Home met a critical community need by installing the first and only crematory in Onslow County, reflecting their commitment to evolving services.
By 1998, after extensive growth and maximizing renovation options at the existing location, an entirely new and larger funeral home was constructed in Jacksonville to better serve the community. Further advancements were made in the spring of 2005 with the opening of a modern funeral home in Swansboro, designed to provide the highest quality funeral and cremation services.
Most recently, in the summer of 2024, Bart’s son, Cameron, joined the family business, quickly becoming an integral part of our mission to provide superior service to our community.
Jones Funeral Home remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting families with compassion, dignity, and professionalism—values that have guided us for more than a hundred years.
